part I: Kanda Yuu meets Sion (link) part II: Nezumi meets Allen Walker
(inspired from the short doujin I reblogged at one point)
Having lost Sion, who was only trailing after him moments before, he both worries and tries to convince himself that Sion has become more capable of protecting himself. He remembers the time the other boy caught him off guard, and then the times he went berserk. He wonders, “Sion… Just who is he?” ???: 「 “Royal straight flush!” 」 He passes by a group of almost naked gamblers and their agonized cries of denial at having lost to a kid. What caught Nezumi off guard was that the back of the player in front of him that had seemingly won… Was the back of a child with white hair and a lithe build… And a terrifying, demonic aura. At this point, Nezumi’s thought process was something like: “No, it can’t be. Sion’s too innocent for that kind of thing. I made sure of that—I mean, really, those men are down to their underwear!! It’s probably just an old man, right? With an overly cutesy shota voice, right?! Rigghht?!?” Then the figure turns, facing towards the awkward bystander, revealing a brilliant smile and a youthful face with familiarily bright eyes and with a different scar, but a scar on the left nonetheless—No. Wait. That smile is entirely insincere. And those eyes… There’s a demon under there!! One thought echoes in Nezumi’s mind: “Sion… Just who the hell is he!?!” Then the silver eyes placed on him changes into those of recognition, ones that should be red. He approaches Nezumi, who wonders if the silver is from coloured contacts. ???: 「 “Why, Kanda! You’ve gotten shorter! How thoughtful of you, but you shouldn’t have. I would have caught up pretty soon anyway.” 」 Why that cheekily little—Wait, since when is Sion cheeky? And sarcastic? And… sexy? Oh great, now he can’t stop staring at the kid. Wait, what did the boy call him? The boy stands and dusts himself off after pocketing his winnings, and—holy shit, that’s a lot of cash. ???: 「 “Woah—you really are shorter than before…” 」 A true smile bloomed on his face (criminally adorable) and he grew giddy. 「 “It… It’s amazing! I outgrew you… in half an hour! Maybe money really can buy height…!!” 」 He’s crying. And obviously hysterical. …And taller than before. Nezumi: 「 “S-Sion…? Get a hold of yourself!!” 」 Nezumi shakes the boy, deciding that right now, curing this poor boy of his delusions is more important than his identity. Unfortunately, it becomes counter-productive, and cards shake out. …So he was cheating? Who from what used to be the dystopian world—!! One of the despairing victims of takes notice before Nezumi has the chance to voice his confusion. Cries of “I knew it!” and “get him!” come from the group, followed by back-up consisting of a higher up (not quite the boss but rather a mid-boss. Yes, let’s call him that) and the swinging and firing of weapons. Unexpectedly, the kid swiftly dodges an on-coming pounce. Men jump from every direction in attempt to capture him, but he leaps above and flips meters through the air and lands gracefully on his feet. Nezumi can only stand there bewildered, and in his bewilderment he finds himself in an arm lock. He attempts to react by tossing the larger man over his shoulder, but his feet have left the ground. He’s been taken hostage, and his weapon removed. There’s an exchange of trivial words, and a confident smile on the false gentleman’s face. N: 「 “Feather-head, run for it already!” 」 The next second, a giant golden ball dents the face of his capturer, millimeters away from his own head. Nezumi swears it was aimed at him. He easily pushes out of the loosened arms. ???: 「 “My name is Allen, bird-brain!!" 」 Well, that explains a lot. 「 “Who are you to patronize me!” 」 The boy rips the guns in the hands of the attackers and crumbles them in hand before taking Nezumi’s hand and dashing off at a speed approaching the speed of light, causing the raven’s gawking face to appear to move slower.
Cutscene, staged at the Dogkeeper’s in town, and Allen finally understands too, that the other wasn’t whom he thought he was. After introducing himself, Nezumi sketches Sion down on paper, asking of his whereabouts, only to be answered by shakes of the head. Allen asks to borrow the pencil, and draws out a poorly illustrated Tim Burton-esque figure labeled “girly” and an arrow pointing at the bangs saying “straight-cut fringe”. N: 「 “Your illustration skills are almost… comically bad.” 」 He has to hold in his laughter. Allen pouts. Allen: 「 “That’s just because he always wears an ugly expression. Like this,” 」 and he imitates his partner’s trademark scowl without much effort. It used to be the one he’d always make as a child, after all. The white-haired boy sighs and takes out a thick wallet, baffling Nezumi yet again, and opens a hidden compartment, taking out one of the photos of his so called partner, “Kanda Yuu”. Nezumi thought he was Eve looking in a mirror. Except this man didn’t even need make-up to look as androgynous as he did. N: 「 “So where are you from, anyway?” 」 The line comes out smoothly, and oh my god, Nezumi, are you hitting on him? A: 「 “Nnn.. It’s a long story. We’re not from this time, or realm at all, actually.” 」
The two converse freely and exchange stories, past the point of satisfying the other’s curiousity. Like college roommates. They talk about Shakespeare and how Allen’s foster father took him to see one of his plays. Nezumi recites a few lines in a dramatic fashion, and talks about how Sion has no taste in literature. Allen didn’t get the opportunity to read much, back when he had access to the Black Order’s library, but Allen says that Kanda has once or twice read to him books in Japanese. They discuss Sion and Allen’s heights, and how Kanda calls him unreasonably rude names. They notice that they have similar eyes. Nezumi has trouble believing many of the other boy’s stories, and is introduced to the golem Timcanpy, who proceeds to play scenes from the zombie incident and recordings of various akuma in action. Allen describes Nezumi and Sion’s apparent relationship as “practically married”. Allen is briefly introduced to Sion’s city’s developing the old technology of “internet”. Nezumi says he doesn’t understand how Allen can act so similarly to Sion who’s innocent and naive, despite still going through hell. He thought Sion was the only one who could stay like that. Nezumi has only read about wars, but understands the sight of dead bodies everywhere. Allen doesn’t understand the concept of a dystopia, but he understands corruption from higher ups. Allen’s face turns to one of realization. N: 「 “Hm? Something the matter?” 」 A: 「 “It’s just that… I wonder why. It’s so easy to act more naturally in front of you… 」 He grins sheepishly.「 I suppose it’s the resemblance.” 」 N: 「 “…I too, said much more than I do with anyone other than Sion. This person you speak of… Is he your lover?” 」 Allen sputters, and nearly turns red before adopting his poker face. A: 「 “W-What kind of question is that! We’re barely… (ahem) Barely even friends, and he’s only ever used my name once. I’m even sure he still hates me to quite an extent. And he’s detestable, really.” 」 Nezumi is gaping again, amazed for a totally different reason. He can only face palm at how oblivious Allen is. N: 「 “…UTS. That’s all I’m going to say. Don’t ask.” 」 He refuses to expand futher than that.
???: 「 “Nezumiiiiii—!!” 」 Nezumi raises his head, and sees a waving white-headed figure in the distance, dragging along a man he recognizes now as “Kanda Yuu”, whom for some reason is staring at him in distaste.
